Mission Statement

The Mission of NAMI Memphis is to improve the quality of life for persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and for their families through SUPPORT, EDUCATION, RESEARCH, AND ADVOCACY.
SUPPORT and EDUCATION of family members so they may serve as knowledgeable caregivers;
EDUCATION of the public to reduce stigma and discrimination, and to increase opportunities for safe and affordable housing, and employment;
EDUCATION of mental health care professionals, to assure high quality of care;
RESEARCH through action at the local, state and federal levels to insure adequate funding to promote on-going research into the causes and treatments of serious brain disorders;
ADVOCACY on behalf of individuals suffering from severe mental illness and their families, and for an improved mental healthcare delivery system; and support of, and advocacy on behalf of research in mental illness. |
